After studying engineering at the University of Florida for 2 ½ years, I transferred to the University of West Florida in pursuit of a degree in Technical Vocational Studies/Industrial Arts Education. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of West Florida in December of 1987.

After graduating, I taught traditional Industrial Arts and Vocational Agriculture. In 1990 I began teaching Technology Education at Wilder Middle School in Chatham County until 1997. In 1997 I moved to Herschel V. Jenkins High School where I headed the Engineering/Robotics program until 2003. Since then I have continued to teach Engineering/Technology at Coastal Middle School in Savannah. I have always maintained a very successful program earning the distinction of having the only certified middle school program in the state as well as such personal accolades as 2006 ITEEA/GETEA Teacher Excellence and 2007 ITEEA/GETEA Program Excellence award recipient. In 2011 I was named the TSA Middle School Chapter Advisor of the Year for Georgia.

In my community, I have served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for nearly 15 years and have been involved in scouting as an Engineering Explorer Post leader, Den Leader or an Assistant Scoutmaster since 1998. I am an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Ascension.
